With my Everyday in Europe Project, work from my digital photo class, and all the travel photos from my study abroad semester, a lot of my friends suggested I make a photobook. I’ve been working on one for the past couple of weeks (a whopping 384 pages) and just sent it out for print!! (eeee can’t wait to see it!)
As I was picking photos for my book this one from my trip to Venice during Carnevale turned up…those costumes were so perfect. Just imagine, some guy in a really lavish costume. Sitting over there. In a water taxi. Haha just thought I’d share this with you guys
I think I’ll post more photos from my study abroad adventures as the weeks go by because I’m just really homesick for Roma and Italy and Europe

“…that’s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.” - The Great Gatsby, Chapter One
A little portrait of Carey Mulligan’s Daisy Buchanan. My laptop has finally reunited with my tablet so I’ve been painting awayyyyy :) I’ve been rereading The Great Gatsby in preparation for the movie since last time I read this book was during the Dark Ages called high school :P It’s so nice to go back and reread without the stress of assignments and whatnot.

Last Day. Day 103 in Europe
I have about three hours before I leave Roma. Took one last midnight stroll around the city: bought the BIGGEST gelato ever, drank from the Baraccia Fountain at the bottom of the Spanish Steps, made my last wishes at the Trevi, walked through the Piazza, and for one last time walked pass my school <3 I hope my Everyday Project gave you guys a taste of my experience here, but really words and pictures cannot express how amazing my time studying abroad here was…I wish I could relive these past 103 days all over again. Grazie mille e arrivederci Roma!

Day 101 in Europe
View of Vatican City from Castel Sant’Angelo. Castel Sant’Angelo was built for Emperor Hadrian but was later used as the Pope’s military fortress back in 400 AD. Some last minute tourist-ing around Rome.

Day 100 in Europe
Today is Liberation Day in Italy but us American study abroad folk are celebrating liberation from classes and finals! lol. A bunch of my friends and I decided to celebrate at a really delicious pasta place that makes homemade noodles (mmmmm). Sad part is this also means our stay in Rome is coming to an end soon…*sigh*

Day 99 in Europe
I wonder if Pope Francesco ever goes shopping in Rome disguised as an average citizen. How strange would it be to see your face on magnets, shirts, postcards, even on wine bottles lol. He probably just laughs at himself like, “Hah oh look it’s my face…again.”
I’m obviously going to miss the ridiculous things I find in Rome.

Day 98 in Europe
A couple weeks back I found out that the Ecstasy of Saint Teresa by Bernini was housed in the Santa Maria della Vittoria church in Rome, and having studied the baroque period last year, I definitely had to go see it. I just have final critiques this week, so I’ve been making time to play tourist again, wander about Rome, and find gems like this.

Day 97 in Europe
Celebrating my last Monday in Rome with aperitivo! Italian aperitivo is pretty much like appetizers back home. Where I’ve been to in Rome aperitivo works like this: you pay for one drink and with that you get a free buffet of little pizzas, sandwiches, pasta, etc. So good!

Day 96 in Europe
Hidden right behind the Pantheon is a tea shop called namasTèy that my friends and I decided to stop by today. Honestly, I am only an occasional tea drinker but this place made me want to love tea like Uncle Iroh. Pictured here is only a small portion of their teas that all smelled like perfume. Some had pears, almonds, honey, even rose petals! I picked up a tea called Rosa del Giappone (Pink of Japan). Excited to try it! :)
Note: Rosa del Giappone can also be translated as Rose of Japan, either way, GOOD TEA.

Day 95 in Europe
I decided to invest in some pesto while grocery shopping today since I figured it was the last time I was going grocery shopping in Rome. Literally I have had pesto with toast, pesto with pasta, pesto with every meal today! Lol, I now hold Italian pesto to the same standards as Italian nutella…those are pretty high standards.

I stayed in an apartment built exactly like this in Paris. I wonder if it’s a standard in Europe?
It’s definitely a popular design, I have other friends in Rome who have the same style apartment
